Explain Document Access
To access this dialog box:
In the SolidWorks client or SolidWorks Explorer client, in the vault view, right-click a document and select Explain Access.
The following information is displayed. You can select a revision and take ownership in this dialog box.

Document. The document name.

Revision. Select a revision from the list.

Owner. If no owner is listed and you have read/write access, you can click Take Ownership to take ownership.
Read/Write Access for the Selected Revision

Project. The project in the vault in which the document resides.

Lifecycle Status. Status or the state of control (disabled, for example).

Administrator. Whether administrators have read/write access to all projects.

Access: Your access level for this document: – (none), RO (read only), or RW (read/write).
Global Vault Settings and Permissions
The following settings from the VaultAdmin Vault Settings and Lifecycle tabs are shown as Yes or No.

Allow revision bumping. Users can bump revision levels without opening the document.

Allow delete of documents. Users have permission to delete documents.

Allow latest revision overwrite. Users can check documents in with the same revision level as the document in the vault, overwriting the document in the vault.

Allow change document properties. Users can change document properties in SolidWorks Workgroup PDM. Users can always change properties in the original application.

Allow users to create subprojects. Users can create subprojects in projects to which they have access.

Allow renaming of documents. Users can rename documents in the vault.

Lifecycle enabled.

Control document access using lifecycle status. The vault administrator controls document access by specifying users and groups for each lifecycle status.

Allow lifecycle status changes on check in. The vault administrator allows users to change lifecycle status during check in.

Administrator can change lifecycle status. If you are an administrator, you can change the lifecycle status.

Owner can change lifecycle status. If you are the document owner, you can change the lifecycle status.

User or group can change lifecycle status. If a user or group can change lifecycle status, it is listed here.
